Day Twentyt hree

St Kitt's today and I'm up early again, it's dark and the approach to the island is very beautiful and dramatic looking with the lights shining on the black looking island and the orange dawn breaking behind. The few clouds there are, add to the effect... The photo shown was taken a bit later so it's not quite as dramatic, sorry.... I will probably get off for at least a walk around the town, but I'm definately having a day off the beer today....
I never turned out last night as I felt quite ill again, so Sheila and I ordered room service (first time we've ever used room service on any ship) and stopped in the cabin and watched a movie.
The extra long sleep seems to have worked as my cold seems to be clearing....
So hoprfully I can tell you a bit more about St Kitts or at least as I said, Basseterre which is the town we dock at..... Instead of walking around the town or doing the island tour, we decided to get the ferry over to St Kitt's sister island of Nevis.
We were told by the local taxi drivers that either we'd missed the ferry or that the return ferry would be around four o'clock which would have been cutting it fine as the journey was 45 mins and the ship was leaving at 5.30.
But being the intrepid explorere we are we decided to give it a go any way.....lol.
The journey did indeed take 45 mins but the return ferry's were about every hour so no problem making the ship sail time..... I have a sneaking suspicion that the taxi drivers were just after our business.....LOL.
Anyway the trip to Nevis was great the ferry was a real bone shaker, but the weather was wonderful and the scenery beautiful
. The town of Charlestown it's self was even more laid back than the mainland, if that was possible.... If we had more time it would be a great island to explore.
