Day Twenty Five

At Tortola today, still sailing in vat the moment, I think we arrive about 8am. Will probably do an island tour, so I'll be able to let you know a bit more about this island than just how good the beer is...... Another beautiful sunrise... .
We've docked at Road Town and decided to definately do an island tour, Jennifer has vowed to keep off the beer today, we'll have to wait and see how good her will power is.......
Did the island tour in an open sided bus, it cost $20 each, this seems to be the standard price on most of the islands. It was quite a good tour, the guide was friendly and informative.
The island hasn't got a lot to see as in historical places, forts, churches etc. As far as churches go the really ornate ones are on the predominantly Catholic islands and Tortola is a predominantly Methodist island so any churches we saw were quite plain and only dated from about the 1930s. What it does have to offer though is beautiful beaches and spectacular views, in fact on this tour we went over Sage mountain which at about 1700ft is the highest peak on the island. And around every corner was another wonderful view of a bay with a sandy beach, each more beautiful and spectacular than the last.
If I had to pick a favourite it would be Long Bay, which naturally was long and gobsmackingly (if thats a word) beautiful. All in all in my humble opinion Tortola was the most beautiful island we visited
